PC Electric cancels 82nd Annual Meeting Due to Covid-19

A message from Myron Lambert, General Manager of PC Electric

One of my favorite events on our co-op calendar is the Annual Membership Meeting. I can speak for both our co-op board and our employees when I say that they also enjoy the yearly opportunity to interact with the members we work so hard to serve.

For me, there are many highlights I look forward to experiencing at this event each year. It’s a source of pride, for example, to stand up before the audience and report on the many accomplishments our organization has completed during the previous 12 months.

We are all proud of the extra effort we make to keep the power flowing throughout our service area. It’s evident what a tremendous impact electricity has on our lives and our livelihoods, including playing a key role in the economic growth of our communities.

Another personal highlight is the privilege of introducing our employees. I believe it’s important that our members get to meet and interact with them. They are the backbone of our organization and are motivated to do their jobs because in many cases the members they serve are their friends, acquaintances, and extended family.

When the coronavirus struck in the spring, we hoped the pandemic would not have any bearing on this year’s meeting. But with the recent surge in the number of positive cases, our board and management made the prudent decision to cancel the meeting for this year.  It seems we all know someone who has tested positive and many of us know someone who has succumbed to its potentially deadly effects.

We will keep our members posted on future plans and developments as they unfold.  Visit our Facebook and Twitter pages and look to our CONNECTIONS publication for information about your co-op. Here’s hoping that one day soon we can resume a sense of normalcy. Stay safe and please be mindful of maintaining your social distance.
