When it comes to providing reliable electric service to more than 10,000 meters across three parishes, substations are critical components in the process. When a substation transformer fails, power could be lost to literally thousands of homes and businesses.
In the past, Pointe Coupee Electric has been able to borrow mobile substations from fellow cooperatives throughout the state, but often had to wait many months before those assisting cooperatives could release their equipment.
For these reasons, officials at Pointe Coupee Electric made the prudent decision to purchase a mobile substation of its own. In December 2013, the cooperative secured its first mobile substation which could be used in the event of both planned and emergency outages. The purchase of this substation is just another example of how Pointe Coupee Electric is looking out for its members and doing everything we can to provide safe and reliable electric service.
